Tibet: Through the Red Box - Peter Sís

(library)
Sís weaves pages of illustrations, personal reflections, and text from his father's diaries into a fascinating look at a dreamlike world. Sís' father was enlisted to teach filmmaking in China and ended up lost, cared for by Yetis, and chatting with the young Dalai Lama, and the book is Sís' view of Tibet through his father's writings and sketches. Although his drawings are fascinating as always, they seem more suited to European subject matter and as a result don't quite fit with the story here. But, it's still definitely worth spending some time immersed in this book.
