The Tragical Comedy or Comical Tragedy of Mr. Punch - Neil Gaiman & Dave McKean

Gaiman and McKean team up on this eerie tale of a boy and his encounters with Mr. Punch. It's a mixture of tales about family memories and images of the Punch & Judy show, rendered in McKean's surreal photo-painting montages. The narrator relates the sort of things you overhear as a kid but don't realize the full import of later; affairs, arguments, and other surreptitious dealings. As was the case in Gaiman's Coraline, adults are generally more to be feared than the ghosts and goblins that inhabit the haunted houses. Delightfully creepy.
