Keep their love of games (role-playing and computer), their obsession over movies like Lord of the Rings and Star Wars, extrapolate their lack of social skills. Mix in one talking ... muskrat? And you've pretty much got "Dork Tower."
Yes, at first glance, it's incredibly geeky. Upon further reading, it's still incredibly geeky. And, yes, I thought it was hilarious.
As an added bonus, this book also includes the game "Escape from Dork Tower," by Cheapass Games, a little company that makes quirky inexpensive games.
