The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists - Gideon Defoe

This book is the first in the Pirates! series, followed by their "Adventure with Ahab" which I reviewed earlier. The pirates encounter the Beagle, having been misinformed that it is carrying gold bullion, and end up in the company of Charles Darwin. Darwin is trying, against the will of the sinister Bishop of Oxford, to prove his controversial theory ... but it's probably not the one you've heard about. And there's also a strange subplot involving the circus.

It's a delightfully ridiculous series, and I hope Defoe keeps it up, at least for few more books. There's no sense in overdoing it.
