Mommy? - Maurice Sendak, Arthur Yorinks, Matthew Reinhart

We came across this book at the store, were totally amazed by it, and then that very evening received it as a gift from Doug and Dafna. It's Maurice Sendak's first pop-up book, and Matthew Reinhart is the paper engineer behind it. It's a mostly wordless story about a little boy looking for his mommy and encountering a bunch of monsters instead. And what monsters! They tower over the pages, and it's amazing that they fit in the book when you shut it.

My only complaint is that it's a short book: only six spreads, but they're pretty action-packed, with an extra flap that opens on each spread. Ridley's a big fan of Maurice Sendak, and this is an excellent addition to our collection.
