Making Comics: Storytelling Secrets of Comics, Manga, and Graphic Novels - Scott McCloud

Scott McCloud is the author of Understanding Comics and Reinventing Comics, two highly-regarded books in the comics world. He's a comic-book artist, but also a comic-book geek who's excellent at breaking down the way comics work and giving piles of examples. This newest book is (as you might guess from the title) about the process of actually making comics, from the way pictures are put together in sequence to the writing of the dialogue to the tools various artists use in their work.

And it's all told in an easy-to-read comic-book format. This book also offers exercises to practice some of the techniques and methods McCloud suggests. I'm not sure I'll ever draw comics as more than a hobby, but this book is a great resource to use if I decide to.
