Wayside School Gets a Little Stranger - Louis Sachar
I remember reading Sideways Stories from Wayside School way back when, and I still have my copies of the first two books. While I was at the library I came across this one which I hadn't seen before. (It came out in 1995, when I was in college and wasn't expecting more of them.)
It's still goofy and zany, but I don't think it's quite as brilliant as the first one. For one, even though this one is thirty stories, there's more of an interconnected plot rather than something you piece together from thirty character studies. It's more about the string of horrible substitute teachers that come through while Mrs. Jewls is out.
You can read it if you liked the earlier books and you're a completist, but I had more fun going back and reading the original.
