(et al.) A Series of Unfortunate Events - Lemony Snicket
Sort of like Edward Gorey, except Robyn likes it. Not quite as gruesome, and geared towards a younger audience. Snicket is as much of a character in the books as the Baudelaire orphans, who triumph over hardship after hardship, only to wind up in more trouble. But it's not like you weren't warned.
