Flaming Carrot Comics: Man of Mystery - Bob Burden
I imagine if Zippy the Pinhead were to don a mask and become a crime-fighter, he might turn out something like the Flaming Carrot. The storylines are just as surreal as the man himself: the Artless Dodger goes on a rampage and hides out in F.C.'s house; SpongeBoy gets captured by floating moons on his birthday picnic; Martians show up to claim the Earth property sold to them by a shyster. And through it all, the Flaming Carrot triumphs with dumb luck and his nuclear-powered pogo stick.
I enjoyed the comics better than the short story at the end, but it's all delightfully ridiculous. It may be a little harder to find, but it's worth the effort if you like something a little quirky.
